Air Band Recieve Radios

Air Band Recieve is a special category of radios where the primary use of the radio is either GMRS or HAM, with Air Band Recieve capability.  These radios are capable of listening to Air Band Frequencies while also operating as a GMRS or HAM radio, this feature is called Dual Watch.  As Powered Paragliding pilots, we need to know if there are general aviation aircraft operating around a nearby airport.  If the airport is your landing zone, listen for the position of aircraft approaching or in the pattern of the airport.  Keep one of these radios in your bag for just such an occasion that you are operating at or near an active airport.  With these radios, you can listen to air traffic while communicating with other PPG pilots over FRS or GMRS radio channels.
